Fibroids can vary in number and size from a single growth to multiple growths, and from very small to very large. As many as 80% of all women have fibroids by age 50.

If women experience symptoms, the most common symptoms of uterine fibroids are heavy menstrual bleeding, menstrual periods lasting more than a week, pelvic pressure or pain, frequent need of urination, difficulty emptying the bladder, constipation, backache or pain in legs.
