Colon Cancer Treatment: Prevention to Personalization of the Medicine

Colon cancer is a complex disease which involves interplay of several factors such as genetics, epidemic changes, and environmental factors. CRC is one of the most prevalent cancers worldwide. It develops as a result of gradual genetic and epidemic changes leading to the transformation of normal mucosa layer into cancerous form. There are different techniques for screening of the CRC and the number is increasing with the medical advancements, ranging from prevention techniques to personalization of the medicine. Three tests are most commonly used. These are fecal occult blood test (FOBT), colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy.
