Anoscopy, proctoscopy, and sigmoidoscopy are diagnostic tests to examine inner lining of anus, rectum, and colon for several conditions inluding the hemorrhoids. Anoscopy includes examiantion using a hollow tube that contains a light source. Proctoscopy uses a longer instrument to view inside of the rectum and sigmoidoscopy involves a lighted tube which is inserted through the anus for examination of the internal organs.
