Kidney stones pain (Renal colic)
People who have kidney stones generally experience sudden onset of excruciating, cramping pain at certain locations such as in their low back, side, groin, or abdomen. Kidney stone pain often begins suddenly. As the stone moves, the pain changes location and severity.
The pain has been described by many patients as the worst pain of their lives, even worse than the pain of childbirth or fractured bones. In many cases, pain comes in waves.

Here are listed some ways you can try at home to help relieve from the extreme pain due to kidney stones.
Drink plenty of water
An increase in water intake can help speed up the process of passing a stone along with urine. Try to drink 12 glasses of water every day if you have a kidney stone that causes pain.
When the stone passes, you should still continue to drink eight about 12 glasses of water daily. It must be noted that dehydration is one of the main risk factors for kidney stones. Dark yellow urine is a sign of dehydration.
Lemon juices
In addition to water, any fluid is helpful for hydrating the body. You can add lemons to the water. Lemons contain citrate, which helps prevent calcium stones from forming and also in breaking up the small stones, allowing them to pass more easily.
Take an over-the-counter pain reliever

Doctors prefer to take Motrin over other NSAIDS for relieving kidney stone pain. If you can, use it. Make sure you call the doctor if you are not sure about which type or how much of the medicine should you take. Some medicines are not suitable for everyone.

Try some green tea
Green tea may help to treat kidney stone pain. It can even help in preventing kidney stones. Drink three to four cups of green tea every day.
Try Phyllanthus niruri
Phyllanthus niruri is a plant that may help to treat kidney stones and relieve kidney stone pain. Phyllanthus niruri works by relaxing the ureters, which makes it easier for the stones to pass through them.
It may also help the kidneys to excrete substances such as calcium that are mainly responsible for the formation of stones in your kidneys.
Prescription pain medications
If home remedies do not provide enough pain relief, you should call your doctor about proscription pain relievers. Even if you are already on a prescription pain reliever, you should let your doctor know if they do not help much. You may need a higher dosage or a different medication to control the extreme pain.
