Mewing has become super popular because of influencers and a high social media presence. It attracts followers and people who swear by its effectiveness. Indeed, mewing can help you change your face a bit and improve its structure. It is also loved because of its potential to enhance your jawline. In this article, you can find information on how to mew and how to increase mewing effectiveness.

Mewing Exercise for Enhancing the Jawline

Basics

If you want to define your jawline and improve the visibility of facial contours, try these mewing steps:

  • Get into a comfortable position and relax.
  • Close your lips.
  • Be sure that your upper and lower teeth touch gently.
  • Lift your tongue, relax it, and make sure it is wholly pressed against the palate.
  • Repeat steps multiple times.

You might notice with time that your tongue naturally rests against the roof of your mouth, and not on the floor of the mouth. After you get familiar with the basics, you might want to progress to more elaborate exercises that can help you correct your jawline.

More Advanced Exercises

With the tongue positioned as described above, try the following exercises.

Levator Scapulae Stretch

Grab your head with a hand and pull delicately to the side. Hold for 10 seconds. Repeat on both sides three times. Improving the position of your head can improve the position of your tongue.

Lip Stretches

Grab your upper lip and stretch it down, and hold for 15 seconds. Then stretch the side of your mouth and hold for 15 seconds. Repeat 3 times.

Swallowing with Your Tongue Against the Palate

Push your tongue against the palate as shown in the basic exercises. Try to smile and then swallow. If you want an even more advanced version: put the edges of your teeth together and then swallow. Try to swallow 10 times for the best results.

Tongue bridges

Put the tongue to the palate and then open your mouth. Hold for 10 seconds, and repeat 10 times.

Reach for Additional Help

Mewing is a great technique that can help you achieve your goals. However, you must remember that for many, it takes months or years to learn how to mew correctly. This is why you might need some extra help to achieve your goals faster.

You can pick from different tools that can help you to acquire the proper tongue posture, including apps, mastic gum, palatal expanders, and more. Choose the best mewing device considering your needs and lifestyle.

Practice Regularly

Regular practice is the key to success. When it comes to mewing, being consistent is so important. Be patient, do your exercises and you will see the desired jawline sooner than you expect. Your dream of the perfect jawline can come true, even without aggressive surgeries.
