When your doctor tells that you have breast cancer, the natural reaction is that you wonder what would have caused the disease. No one knows what the exact cause is. Doctors don’t know why one woman gets breast cancer while other does not. He or she cannot point to a particular confirmed cause. We only know that it is caused due to the damage to a cell's DNA.
Breast cancer is generally thought of as a cancer that affects only women. This idea is however wrong. Men can also get it though it is rare in men. It develops in the small amount of breast tissue of men behind their nipples.
Breast cancer is generally found after symptoms appear, but in many cases, breast cancer has no symptoms in the early stages. This is why a regular breast cancer examination and screening is important.
Breast cancer can be diagnosed at an early stage during screening. But if the breast cancer is diagnosed when you already have symptoms, it may be a later stage and may require a different treatment that that of the early stage cancer.
